Kincraft Apprentice

Join the team

Volunteering as an apprentice offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in hands-on learning while being part of a supportive community. As an apprentice, you'll assist in courses and events, gaining practical experience in real-world settings. This allows you to actively learn the skills being taught, from bushcraft and traditional crafts to sustainable living practices. By working alongside experienced instructors, you’ll deepen your understanding of these skills, while also observing effective teaching methods in action.

One of the key benefits of this apprenticeship is the personal training and mentoring you’ll receive. With direct access to a mentor with over 25 years of experience in bushcraft, forest schools, and outdoor experiential learning, you’ll get one-on-one guidance to refine your craft. This tailored mentorship extends beyond skill-building, providing you with insights on how to teach and facilitate, preparing you for a future in outdoor education.

In addition, all your meals will be provided during courses, festivals, and shows, allowing you to focus fully on your learning experience. Whether you are new to the field or retraining, this apprenticeship offers a rich opportunity to develop your land-based practice and build lasting connections with like-minded individuals.

Paul has worked internationally for 25+ years, teaching outdoor learning, bushcraft and forest school. He is an ethnoecologist and researches various ways communities can have relationships with the Land based on kinship. Using a combination of traditional ecological knowledge (TEK) and local ecological knowledge (LEK), with a master’s degree in Experiential Learning, he introduces a new form of practice, Kincraft.

By focussing on how we can relate to our Land, this practice creates a focus and grounding for not only on skills and crafts, but also for creating a more regnerative approach that weaves together people and place.

If you are open-minded, enjoy learning skills and crafts, travelling and spending time with people around the campfire, as well as wanting to explore new ways of relating to the Land, then I am eager to hear from you.
